Re: PROCESS RESTART

fwiw .. my personal opinion is that the last statement about surprise that no one else had thought of it before B. is more telling than it was easy to understand and simple to build ( paraphrased ) .. It's possible that Karl was thinking of a particular subset of PM chasers when he said that, and no...

Re: PROCESS RESTART

So you think it so simple that Karl didn’t even want to pay the original 4000 thalers to guarantee it. In a nut shell - yes ! Karl contracted to see the inside workings of the PM wheel so he could see how it "worked" and determine beyond a shadow of a doubt it wasn't a hoax, and then he w...

Re: PROCESS RESTART

There is something wonky going on. Is wonky a northern hemisphere scientific term ;7) Here's perhaps a similar scenario dax .. you see advertised in "popular mechanics" a machine that is 100% guaranteed to kill 100% of flys, or your money back, instructions included - for only 4 monthly i...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

FWEIW, I've worked with pendulums a lot and, I found a good way to reset them. About the best that can be achieved is having them drive for 90 degrees and reset in 90 degrees. But, to do that they have to reset twice as fast as the wheel is turning. That's the killer / the acceleration of it. Veloc...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

OK Graham, looking forward to your ideas regarding pendulums and how they may be viewed differently in different contexts .. I do understand that you are turning over pet rocks for the illusive PM Principle - it's gotta happen in order to unearth it .. And fwiw .. I don't want to come across as crit...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

If you recall Bessler spoke about some of the wheels in his book as possible runners if his special principal was used on them. Yes, probably the most "in-your-face" examples being MT 44 and MT48, and many others that get a special mention and are much more familiar to us that use forever...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

It looks balanced. How can it work if it's balanced --------------Sam Hey Sam .. you could say that the rig "breathes" in and out - that is, the weights of different colours and masses are able to move about a bit - extending and contracting overall length slightly, and width - the spring...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

Here's your basic design Rox .. I tidied it up a bit and simplified it so it runs well ( accuracy still 100 fps ) - note, I dumped the polygon slots structures you had made and replaced them with menu slotted joints ( from the side menu ) .. You should be able to drag over one side or another and co...

Re: PROCESS RESTART

Yes Trev .. thanks for that .. " that I and the world should see this principle , in itself so simple , and yet at the same time so deeply hidden , of everlasting motion " .. the principle of everlasting motion, which is so utterly simple, but also deeply hidden from mankind for so long .....

Re: PROCESS RESTART

It also helps us understand that when we have an amazingly brilliant idea that nobody has ever thought of, we're probably talking bollocks. Loads of people have had exactly the same thought, when they thought of the idea for the first time, and loads of people have realised the thought wasn't as am...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

It's a good analogy RH .. that's why myself and others spend so much time on meaning of translations and witness reports etc .. we could go it alone with no thought or cognizance to what B. wrote or said, or any witness etc, and hope we can think that simple for ourselves - or, we could only look fo...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

Sam, you and I are in agreement - it's embarrassingly simple - embarrassing because it's so hard to think that simple .. we know Karl was amazed no one else had built one like B's., before B , once Karl saw the inside workings and the penny dropped for him - so simple that others could easily build ...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

It's simple really .. dance the two-step .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL7DgP_y9G0 1. build an overbalanced wheel from "weights" that always has a positive torque - so gravity force is always pulling it down on one side .. 2. arrange step 1. in such a manner that the PE of it's intern...

Great to hear Bill - I mean that ..

Agor .. Bill's wheel dimensions and performance page in particular would also be very worthwhile here imo ..
