Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

I think Sam is right. I think you better find a new ChatGPT; It's full of shit---------------Sam The only mechanical advantage observed in Bessler's wheel with the 3 pulleys is the advantage created by the different diameter of the wheel itself and the axle with the rope wrapped around it (pulley)....

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

I tried measuring the two pulleys. The one on the ceiling is half the diameter of the one on the floor.

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

For those that aren't familiar, cgpt has a disclaimer at the bottom of the page: "ChatGPT can make mistakes. Consider checking important information." So the MA is only from the pulley ratios. Maybe B. knew this in advance or discovered it when he tested his wheels. The witness who complai...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

Once again! Are you sure the rope and rope sections formula is valid? Are you confusing that with a pulley system where one of the pulleys is NOT fixed, i.e. , a movable pulley? You're correct, and I appreciate your clarification. I misspoke in my previous responses. I apologize for the confusion. ...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

Hi eccentrically1, can I ask you if you agree with me that if the rope moves up 6" near the axle that the box outside the window also moves up 6"? Graham No, not if the pulleys are different diameters. One pulley has to make more turns to move the rope the 6 inches. Depending on the orien...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

Ask it if it sure the 3 sections of rope cause a mechanical advantage even if all the pulleys are fixed and none of them move when the rope is pulled. That was my question: User If I have a weight to lift and I lift it with a rope running through a fixed-to -the-ceiling, 2" diameter pulley, do...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

Robinhood46: I think my problem is referring to these advantages as "mechanical advantage". I don’t quite disagree with you. I know there is an advantage just as using a wagon is an advantage. There is no leverage distance loss in using a wagon but it is easier than sliding the load. Are ...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

Pulleys ,wheels (peritrochium), levers, gears. They all are mechanical advantaged simple machines.
Let’s move on.

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

Pulleys are gears without teeth if that’s what you mean. The speed is affected, but there is either a MA gain or loss. Good catch Dax if B. had an even bigger difference than the drawing indicates it could be that’s what what’s his name was referring to when he complained about the 5x pulley reducti...

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

So in the pic the driving pulley/axle is 8” diameter. The driven pulley is maybe 1/2 to 2/3 that; 4-6”.
The ma for that is 1/ [1/2] to 1/[2/3].
2 to 1.5 ish MA.

Re: Besslers prime mover and its enabler.

. If the first pulley (the one attached to the load) is smaller in diameter and the second pulley (the one attached to the roof) is larger, the system will behave as follows: The load pulley in the pic is the roof pulley. Is the MA is going to increase or decrease if the diameters are switched ( la...
