re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

Yes but Allan I don't need to teach you how to crawl when you already know how to walk! If I say wind tunnel, you already know what a standard wind tunnel is. If I refer to the vacuum behind the camber of the wing you already know what sort of low pressure it is. Although I prefer to use lay-mans la...

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

Yes Allan, sorry I realize now that it is the problem of conceptions.
When I write my book every argument will be accompanied by a diagram.
I would like to learn how to do diagrams and pictures on this forum because I am going to need it when I have to demonstrate my working wheel soon.

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

You guys have totally missed the point and strayed off the subject.
I was talking about a relative vacuun compared to the normal air pressure.
In other words the gradiant drop in air pressure that the angle of attack of the wing gives to air through angular momentum.

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

I don't expect my explanation to be accepted willingly straight away, it usually takes a while of meditation to really dawns on the intellect. Here is a simple example of what I mean. If you put a golf ball and a table tennis ball in a wind tunnel, which ball will fly away the fastest under pressure...

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

Hi Daanopperman, I'm sorry I did not want to rob from the charm of the beautiful airplane design in considering what makes the plane so stable at velocity. To analyzing something I look at the object not as a plane but as a craft that has parts joined on to stabilize it. Just for a moment imagine th...

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

Yes of course we all agree on that and the greater the angle of attack the more drag without question, but the angular momentum imposed on the air that creates the low pressure is not the whole story.

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

To return to the subject of high speed air. No real logical explanation is given for the drop in pressure of the air through a venturi. Here's what happens. First of all lets all agree, there is no such thing as suction. It's only pressure through Brownian motion of the air to expand into space. If yo...

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

eccentrically,....you are talking about what a plane does or what it is designed to do,for instance, when the plane drops, the tail drags the back of the plane up to put it into a steep dive to restore lift. Please understand, I am dealing with the basic principle of wing lift only. That is what the p...

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

Eccentrically1,...I'm not questioning the formula,as I said before you can get any equation to work using coefficients and constants.
My argument is how they perceive a plane stays in the air. It's not just about angle of attack or circulation for that matter.
There is a deeper principle involved.

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

Thanks Ralph for all the info which I find very interesting and useful. The purpose of this thread is to help even the layman visualize how and why planes fly. I will try to do this in my next post. I mentioned that the essential ingredient is the angle of attack, but that is not the whole story. Of...

Thanks a lot Ralph, that Giizmag website looks really good.

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

Great Ralph, it looks like us old guys have a lot in common.I've also been fascinated with jets. It looks like the electrics are taking over though. One day I foresee the airliners going over to electrics because these new nano technology batteries are light and the amp/hour capacity is 10 times con...

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

Wow!...that is so great. I also like to be original. When I was at the aero-plane club meet, a guy had small quad-copter and he was surveying the surrounding bush using virtual glasses.I thought that was so cool. You won't believe it but 25 years ago my dream was to build a man piloted hexa-copter w...

re: The Physics of Wing Lift...Logic versus tradition.

It would have been nice to be able to see the plane you fly 'oldNick'. Is it still fuel powered or have you gone over to electrics. Model planes have come a long way since the 50's. I was invited to a club meet by a friend of my daughter's. He had a plane that ran on straight fuel. When he took his ...
