(don't see the resemblance with Costa though)

I can imagine all kinds of purposes:
* Water resource management
* Automatic detraction/deployments of sunshades/rainsheds.
* Vortex mixers...
* And "Yeah!" for waterpowered robotic limbs.

Do you mean the very small amount of movement in the system ,thats what interests me ,i was considering using nitinol i think it was ,but decided not to split my time up,Andyb.

You can build an engine with more power than a sterling engine using nitinol (memory wire) and if you use a heat source that is being used for say heating or cooking, you could reclaim some of the energy used.

I agree for that nitinol is some amazing metal. I have been planning to play with it on my down time when I get my knees replaced/operated on.

I read a article claiming 50 tonnes of lift so there is plenty of potential there, i just wanted to find the correct mech for a genuine gravity motor but in reality nitinol could be a lot more effective in energy returns,alas i will persist with my mission.
