The vellum may be from the 15th century, but the writing, drawings, etc. were most likely created in the early 1900's as part of a hoax. (I've been on the mailing list for the Voynich discussion group for years, so I keep up to date.)
Alas, my own theory that it was written in Early Welsh/Latin is increasingly unlikely in the face of the hoax theory (the guy putting that forward is building up a good case), but people are still trying to figure out what it says... ;-)

Odd. I learned a while back it was just medicinal and herbal term book written in shorthand. Took them forever to figure it out because of the mature of shorthand itself and the fact that it is full of terminology known to few people.
