Actually, no, we're not doing too well over here. We could have hundreds dead, about 26 billion USD in damage, and a sudden drop off in about 25% of the USA's daily oil supply.

Katrina's damage is now much worse than was anticipated and it could take months to get things back to normal. They are now saying that it could be the worst storm to ever hit the USA!

There are those who understand and appreciate God's viewpoint on the matter....as He was the one that gave them fair warning with Ivan....and it was New Orlean's response, one largely borne of spiritual and moral bankruptcy that fomented this disaster.


As one of the most corrupt cities in our country, I pray that those with ears to hear and eyes to see had left the area long before Katrina.


God's standards of judgement are not fickle and shallow like man's...and to judge Him by our own, is to invite His education on the matter.

I have friends in New Orleans - good people. Everthing they own is under 9 feet of water. The last thing they need at the moment is some medi-evil idiot trying to tell them that the reason they are suffering is because a god is unhappy.

There are good people all over the planet who are suffering and dying on a daily basis.I don't know why.And I may never know.But I would not presume to know God's plan,and I certainly would never state that God was making a blanket punishment on a group of people because of their geographic orientation.Anyway,I hope everyone's making it through the heartache and mess.I do hope that maybe folks will stop building homes so close to an area that is an obvious bad choice,based on the recurring weather patterns from the beginning of recorded weather history.Everybody has to deal with weather related disasters at some time,but this happens on such a regular basis in these areas that you'd think the insurance companies would start to refuse to rebuild at these same locations.

There's one problem with your god theory Techstuff.
Do you remember that Star Trek epidode from the original series where a robotic probe came aboard the enterprise and through it's many years in space thought itself perfect and destroyed anything that wasn't perfect, including humans? It thought Kirk was it's creator because it's actual creator had the name Kirk. Kirk defeated the robot in the end by informing it that a human,something that wasn't perfect, had created it. How could something not perfect create something perfect? Illogical. It then went into a loop trying to figure it all out and destroyed itself. It's the same thing as god. How can, or why would something perfect create something not perfect? Why would it then blame the imperfect creations for being what they are, what they were created as...imperfect? Perhaps god isn't perfect. Did god make a mistake? Then why worship it? My whole point is, if there is a god surley the system it acknowledges and is a part of is a lot better than the do or be dammed senario.

As sleepy pointed out, we don't really need you or your god to warn us that a hurricane is coming, they've been preparing for this one for years, they just didn't know when it would be.
Unfortunately, many of the people of New Orleans don't own a car, so they had no way to get out. Some thought it they could just wait it out. Either way, we can probably be sure that the disaster was not a judgement on the people, I find it hard to believe that of the 250-300 thousand folks there, there was not one good person. And what about the trio of Australian vacationers I saw waiting in line outside the Superdome (talk about bad timing)?
Also, I wondered the same as sleepy, they have to rebuild the towns every couple of years, why does anyone live there? Of course there is a lot of fishing, trade, and tourism, so when they're not destroyed I guess they are making enough profit that it balances out the damages. It'd seem to me that they'd quit making houses out of wood though.
Michael, since Techstuff didn't say anything to you, I guess I will. As I understand it, the Bible says that God created the universe, and people, perfectly. But He doesn't want us to love Him because He made us that way, He wants us to want to love Him. So He gave us free will so that we could choose to love him or not. It also says in the Bible, that if we willingly reject God, then we willingly accept evil, and accept the imperfection that comes with that decision. Therefore, He blames us for choosing to be imperfect.

Hassan has only started two topics and both have seen a high response. He sure has a way of stirring things up.

He asks how are we doing over here and Ken responds with one post on topic. Then Mitch starts his bible thumping and now we have eleven posts all having nothing to do with Hassan's topic question.

Hassan How are we doing? well the last time I looked we were calling each other liars and Idiots. Ah! good old america and the right of free speech. It is stronger and outweighs any hurricane in history including Katrina.

As for the Mississippi delta, any one crazy enough to keep diking a silting river until the day comes it his higher than your city, it is time to dredge or get the hell out of Dodge. You have no idea what it feels like to be driving a truck on a highway and look out the side window and see a paddle wheeler steaming up stream and it appears to be 25 feet higher than you are.

I think of the waste of natural resources lost each time they experience a storm like this. But yet they waste more by rebuilding instead of fixing the problem. I say let it stay under water and move out to find higher ground. Open the levys and dikes and let the river return to its natural bed, and stop wasting resources and taxpayers money on a repeatable dead horse.

Do they ever learn, not as long as our gracious US Army Corps Of Engineers is around to spend tax payers money to rebuild the dikes and make them higher still. I believe any one living under such conditions should reconsider their options or get what will be. God or no God we still can make a decision with or without following the flock.

Not everyone is going to stick their finger in the dike as the little Dutch boy of old did.

When I read your comments,I felt myself responsible because of posting this topic.Because the topic have been getting away from the aim of the post.I posted this to help the people focusing on the helping ways to the effected people who were effected from disaster.As I read,the people in New Orleans started to despoil markets because of having enough drinking water and enough food.Such as an African can pays under 2$ for necessities.I can order a lot of examples like these.I think we must focus on helping the people in New Orleans.And I hope this sensibility goes to Africa or any other place that needs the people to help them.In my opinion,it is not time and place to discuss about the existence of God or God's standards,it is time to help the people.I hope I didn't offend anyone.Is there anyone who can suggest us how to help them?
