Hello...
This phrase is valid for me, my brother and for a few else:
''In the meanwhile, in 'aegypt', the salivating sphynx says:
- Since I shew you so much, why don't you try to decipher me a little more?''

Hello to all!
For those who missed me, in below there is a msg I sent to a person from another forum that seens to be realy interested in my avalanchedrive puzzle.
He, sincerely, wanted to know about what I reached up to now.
Not sure if I'll be able to send 2 photos, but I'll try.
thanks + regs.

( the photos are ''TOO BIG'' with less than 200k... what to do? )

''Harvey, hi!
Here we go!
In short I'll tell you what I have and what I got up to now.
1= My clean and simple chain:

- it is partially mounted and has total wheight as 120kg.

- all parts in iron with nickel flash plating and the general quality of this set is quite good for the application.

- it's not symetric, since the ''arms'', or connections, have two different lenghts; smaller with 105mm and 80mm center to center of its 2 holes and bigger with 120mm and theorecticaly 95mm, center to center. ( see archive U3 sent in sepparated. )

- to increase mass I used iron discs, or rods, two at each vertice, just like gymm halteres. Note that these 15mm iron discs are not equal; those external have 45mm dyameter while those at inside have 50mm dyameter, and there is a reason for this.

- in all vertices of this articulated element, or chain, there are pieces, or arms, to form a free zig-zag. Each vertice has it's small 8mm shaft that holds to 2 discs, 2 smaller and 2 bigger arms ( discribed above ). The vertices at outer side, have also an additional free ''arm'' called ''lock'', or crossbar, also with 85mm, that is used to fall and form fixed triangules when the chain's angules are open at right degrees.

- the chain is drawn to assume any position of interest to the project, what is, accept to stay contracted, or expanded, when hold by the vertical rails, what means, ''armed by gravity''.

- since the inner discs diameter are bigger than those from outside, when the positive column, or pile, is formed, a punctual pression point will apear at down, right over ''first'' sprocket wheel's perimeter ( see darker disk at my complete elypse diagram ).

- when hold and conduced by vertical rails, one will see that the columns, contractec or expanded, may be easily moved to up and down, like ''pistons'' virtually without friction. This means that the chain may easily *flux down* the rails, if you want to do this, with violence, at ''g'' celeration.

2= The Sprocket Wheel:
- I SUPOSE that the negative pile will distribute it's resistance in the tracked part to the perimeter of this wheel... SO, IF this will really hapen, it will not matter about the wheel's radius or diameter sizes. If the oposite forces will find direct momentum resistance throughout wheel's diameter, the radius must be calculated to 3 or more times the *chain open widt*.

- since the open chain has ~85mm high triangules... a 250mm radius wheel would be enough, with 22 sprockets.

3= The Top turn, or reposition:
- don't worry about, because it's passive and maybe even a wheel will be not necessary, but a external ( perimetral ) rail and a management for the disconnecting locks.

4= What I Hardly Got Up to Now:
- an iron stand assembling with 650x300x1250mm, able to support adjustable acrylic + metal walls for the 2 columns rails and a really *VERY BAD FINISHED* sprocket wheel, with 12 vertices sprockets connections. This wheel is so bad done that it just can't hang and track to my chain for some 120°. This wheel is a complete fail!

- but, what I planned before make this assembling? I thought that if my conceptions could be checked if just an ''U'' assembling is used for a first test, because the piles differencial must be evident between both sides. ( ''U'' as you see in my files, with just 2 columns and a sprocket wheel. )

- ( an interesting stuff I observed: during assembling works, for several times, I let mounted a contracted, or compressed, column, with its botton blocked against the structure, by a single iron bar. Remember that the pression is discharged punctually... I saw that this pile strongly forces to ''rise itself'' bending and moving, together with the rails, to left side, getting inclined \\. This is beatifull to experience: the power of the gravity against itself! )

- since the unperfect wheel couldn't track to the chain, very impatient, what did I? I got to some fine strings and tied to the wheel's perimeter those 5 lower vertices...

- this is the point I stoped, but an interesting stuff I could see! All armed chain set is free to react by hand, up and down, and *besides the ties*, it will *try* to react easily at any addicional wheight one may add to it. ( se archives frcm U1 and U2)

- I think that a first step for a computer modeling should also be done in that ''U'' shape!

- in another sepparated mail I'll send the 3 files ''frcm U1, U2 and U3, so as a stupid modeling done with ''e-drawings''. I guess that the chain's proportions in this draw are ok, and it may be usefull to you. The drawers gave-up about the job.

Please, remenber that we are talking in open and you may copy all the matter, if you want, as I will.
Thanks for your cooperation and best regards.

There is something that I'm still trying to appreciate...
Later on we'll see if this is a gift or not! A gift to the ''gifters'' of BW forum.
Pls, go and explore to

Case someone knew to this before, I thank him for holding the tip! :|
