Visited posts not registering as visited.

Usually once I've read a post, when I return to forum index, the visited post has disappeared from the unread list. For the last few days the same posts are listed even though I've read them, is that something to do with the site, because it's not happening in other web sites? It's the same with both my computers so it doesn't have anything to do with my IE settings.

Hang on John! I started experiencing the same scenario a couple of days before I was totally eliminated from the forum.

Scott may be able to remedy the problem now that he has experienced repairing my profile and all that goes with it. As you may recall I could not even log in, an error message would tell me that my user name and password was in use by another.

The database looks fine, no corruption of the user table like when Ralph had his problem. For those of you having issues with "read topics" I recommend clicking the link near the top right of the forum home page that says "Mark all topics read" or click here http://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/index.php?mark=forums

I'm glad to know that all is OK Scott. I note that the 'read' posts still return as 'unread', after they have been read, but after a period of about five or six minutes some of them have become 'read'. It's like there's a delay in the recognition that a post has been read, but up until a couple of weeks ago it was always instant. Once you had read a post it was recognised as 'read' immediately.

Your Browser may be using it's cache of the 'previous page' if you're navigating with the Back button.

Try using the Forum Index link instead (adjacent to the reply button) to see if it cures the problem. Doing so will request a refreshed page from the server.

Yes, manual refresh updates topics read. However, up until a week or two ago the back button auto-updated pages read. No big deal either way.

AFAIK I'm not doing anything different to what I normally do. I'll try deleting the cookies as suggested but I don't see how this will alter anything.

I tried your suggestion Mark but it has always been easier to click back and then click on the remiaining 15 (or whatever) posts since my last visit. If I follow your suggestion it adds an extra page to the process, which I know is not much of a problem, but I just wondered why it happens.

I'm going to try your suggestion now Scott and will see what happens. Thanks.

No change Scott. It still doesn't register that I've visited the new posts, but it isn't really a problem.
