A rough sketch of ,two ball and one ball see-saws to drive a wheel.......for ease of drawing i drew the track runs as semi-circles this in reality should be long slopes.... not as severe a climb for the balls as they run .....the spring wire(26 S.W.G. approx.1/32")mounted on the main see-saw platform as the track....... the fulcrums(pivots)vee shaped and knife edged to reduce friction ... the two ball requires greater precision (or can get out of synchro) to build than the one ball but is a quicker action. .....i used 1" ball bearings and am still figuring out the "drive"to turn the wheel.

Do any remember the Wooler Swash Plate engine ,i was reminded of it when reading Raj and Pathfinders development work ,i did a feasability study for Ford in the late 70's but at that time it was uneconomical and too controversal to continue developement ....have a look at this link and the unique movement for the connecting rods........Good luck to Raj and Pathfinder moving forward with their quest, these are the type of people we need here ,builders and not dreamers.

To me, the simplistic and minimumlistic number of moving components (less friction)of the" swash plate " will go a long way to solving Besslers wheel .... driven by a very heavy (2 cwt).counterweighted pendulum ,the horizontal resultant of back and forward(in and out) rotational torque would be tremendous in the arc created by the pendulum and easily transformed to turn a heavy wheel .

Murilo,if this was an off-set chain run similar to your avalanche design....Would it run? ...the idea being there would only ever be one weight going up ,the other three always on the "down"......just a thought.

rasselasss, you said:

No... for sure not, OR at least with too much losses and hardly, since falling/rising will be done with ramps.

The vertical component for ramps are cruel and a fact! (never to forget the horizontal connection you propose and the critical 'transit' in the 3 corners.)

I have data for vertical sets going up and down, ex., elevators, where it's to be expected losses of 0,2% of applied power.

Be sure, deal with a pile as shown in this photo is real problem, because it is absolutely ready to flux down itself with 'g' well known 'violence', almost as it was kind of liquid.

Thanks for asking!
Best!
M

Welcome, rass!

A few more words to complete the information about 'vertical piles':

the chain 'solid pile' set offers good technical advantages if compared to 'liquid piles', which is that the solid makes possible to apply all the pressure at a single point, while liquid has the natural spread in 360º.

Best!

This is a very handy device for builders, not being permanent its makes adjustment of a fitting easy work on a shaft ,could be of use to some here.See link.
