Is it possible to gear one large diameter wheel and a small diameter wheel, on their outer rims, each on separate axle, to make them rotate at the same rpm???

Yes. Use a 1:1 gear ratio...both gears would be the same size.

The gear ratio must be d:d+n

The ratio of the diameters of the outer rims of the large wheel and of the small wheel,

Then rephrase the question. For the SAME rpm you use the SAME gear size, therefore a 1:1 ratio. Maybe you meant something different. :)

I wasn't quite sure what you were getting at raj, but I think I get it. You would need to use a planetary gear I believe.

Is it critical that both gears be meshed to each other and spin at the same speed or are you simply looking for 2 meshed gears of different sizes to have their shafts turns at the same speed?

I agree with Silvertiger. Is this a trick-question Raj?

Where they mesh they should have the same speed, or they wouldn't mesh - planetary or not.
When the RPM is the same then the ratio is simply 1:1 by definition.

This requirement "make them rotate at the same rpm" simply contradicts "The gear ratio must be d:d+n"
Either the ratio is d:d, or the ratio is d:d+n.

You can always use the inner area of the 1:1 gear to get yourself a smaller radius.
Or perhaps better, glue a pulley of the same size onto both wheel, and let a belt do the gearing.

For "gearing of rims:
  • Wheel.1 has radius r1=d
    Wheel.2 has radius r2=d+n
    The angular velocity for both: w

    The gear-teeth at the rim of Wheel.1 fly at the speed of v=r1·w (Thus when it hits a marble, it flings it away with that linear speed).
    The gear-teeth at the rim of Wheel.2 fy at the speed of v=r2·w.
    They can not mesh normally at that point of contact at the rim as wheel.2 always goes n·w faster that wheel.1
Even when there's an innovative other way (as you probably hint at), the pulley-belt option is likely the easiest and most efficient.
But that's "just" an 1:1 option as that is what "same RPM" actually means.

I have discovered a one single way to mesh two different diameter wheels’ outer rims to make turn at the same rpm.

I know this can’t be achieved by all known meshing mechanism: gears, belts and pulleys

I believe this is a scientific discovery.

That was the reason why I had to dash to Pune India to show some mechanical engineers to validate my discovery.

This new wheels meshing method is the answer to over unity and self rotating quest .

Raj, good question!
You'll need a 3º point where the turns are present and ''managed'.
This 3º will be the, or one, main axle of system.
This axle may command any other wheels, but DIRECTLY!
In parallel, I mean, without transference.
We are talking of RPMs, OK? Not velocities, but TURNS.

For my Auto Wheel/Gravity Wheel concept currently on general discussion, I am using a new gearing system of wheels of different diameters to rotate in same RPM.

N.B !!!

Below:
Two different diameter wheels geared by 16 strings/cords, all of same length.
1.in physical model
2. in drawing, showing a larger wheel with an inner rim of same diameter as smaller wheel below with two identical weights in black large DOTS, one at 3 o'clock position on inner rim and one at the 9 o'clock on the smaller wheel.

A question:
Are the two wheels with the weights in the drawing, in balance position.?

Hi Raj,
the construction will not work with this belts, as far as I know.
Reason: the Center of Mass is below the turing axle of your Wheel.

The construction can only work if you use springs instead of the belts so that the construction will get an dynamic motion.

To you question with the gearing : there is a 3. Formular which are not normally used from the engineers.

The 3. Formular is called relative Rotation. I have used it on my first construction to Keep the eccentric weights in the same Position.
You have to turn the outer Wheel and the inner Wheel at the same time to achive this movment.

It is a function Wheel in Wheel but not turning.

No. The 'gearing' slacks, so both drop in the direction they point until their lowest point.

Hi Marchello,
I know, the teeths fit into each other.

but you can have 3 different movements.

1. the small Wheel is stationary and the big Wheel is rotating.
2. the small wheel is turning and the big Wheel is stationary
3. both, the small Wheel and the big Wheel is turning, then the eccentric weight will stay like I had shown on one side.
