MT 60 and 61

Post by mikeyned »

For this episode please refer to MT drawings number 60 and 61. Initial notes would be that these drawings are among the particularly artistic prints when compared to the numerous 'unattractive' drawings before and following them. B' took a lot of careful time and used the finest grain wood to make such a high quality print.
When you get down and really study these mechanisms there is one glaring flaw. The weighted arms and springs do not lie in positions one would expect considering the pull of gravity.
That is until you rotate each of the drawings 90 degrees clockwise. Then all of the sudden all the weights and springs are in order.
Would seem to be a clue to turn certain other drawings 90 degrees clockwise particularly if it does not 'make sense' in the given orientation shown.
Drawing MT123 is the only drawing that is 'obviously' rotated 90 degrees but it is counter clockwise and appears to have been done primarily to fit the rather large drawing onto a single page.
I only found this a few weeks ago and have had little time to fully explore the implications but I believe this is important enough to pass along to the public in an expedited manner and hope it will be helpful.
