It's mind boggling even with the drawing, don't you think? And a fabulous drawing it is, jb.
What happens is; the center sprocket is held stationary by the rollers. As the wheel turns CW the chain wraps around it. It's like the chain kind of walks backwards, which causes the outer sprockets to turn CCW keeping the green rods level.

Oh, the prototype. I'm working on it but, it's still not complete. I have to make a set of levers that slide the weights back and forth. One set is done. Have to do the 2nd one----------Sam

Principe recherché, les poids remontent au plus près de l'axe central vertical.
le poids arrivant à hauteur de moyeu est versé sur la rampe de transfert vers la jante.
Le poids près de la jante exerce le couple pour monter les poids à la verticale.
As a principle, the weights rise as close as possible to the vertical central axis.
The weight arriving at hub height is poured on the transfer ramp to the rim.
The weight near the rim exerts the torque to raise the weights vertically.

If people are wondering how to save it. (this is the only way I know how; there may be better ways). Doesn’t seem to save by pushing the save button.
From the Algodoo screen it is running on highlight the whole machine.
Press Ctrl + c
Open new Scene on Algodoo and select one.
Press Ctrl + v
Should appear, then you can rename and save it.
