Gravity Wells

Post by UbWe »

Is this another example of a gravity well? Because gravity is stronger between the Earth and the Moon, did that prevent this from
possibly hitting the Earth?

With 2 recent asteroids I think scientists will be able to test my theory that Einstein got it wrong. Do you like the way that sounds?
Einstein got it wrong because Newton got it wrong? Do you like thinking that? That is what I hear and it is okay.

Someone needs to say gravity is not greater between the Earth and the Moon when both bodies are considered. This is
pretty basic stuff. g = Gm/r^2, right? How can it get any easier? I mean g = Gm1/r1^2 = 2a = Gm2/r2^2 can't be right. The
gravitational attraction between the Earth and the Moon can't be greater where they both act equally on the same point
in space.
And I doubt the Moon could attract what's coming in 2029 towards the Earth. Even if the Moon is passing behind the Earth
increasing the gravity in the direction of the Earth, Apophis can't be pulled towards the Earth. And 20,000 miles is 32,000 km.
Of course we can ask how a slight deviation in a gravitational field changes the path of a celestial object. And from my
perspective, will its path be influenced by a gravity well?
The good news is if it does hit the Earth, https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2 ... id-in-2029

But as of March 2021, NASA has confirmed that there is absolutely zero chance the space rock known as 99942 Apophis will strike this planet for at least 100 years.

How to gauge the influence of a gravity well when science does not acknowledge them?
