As previously posted, in the old world of alchemy these symbols also represented metals.

If I recall correctly, Saturn is lead, Mars is iron, and Jupiter is tin. Lead and tin comprise solder, but also comprise babbit metal,
a still-used bearing material. Iron speaks for itself.

FYI- Surprisingly, Newton, the famous scientist and physicist, was also an alchemist.
