I maybe should have given some of my reasoning as to why the weights may have been wet. Alchemists spent their time seeking the qualities of things, whichg they codeified. Along with the four to five elements the qlailities they held all nature to have were the static or fixed-material, which they called sulfer. The fluid-moving-or liquid, which they called mercury. And I believe the intermediary between the two which they called salt. A crab is a sort of intermediary between water and air, or land mass as it lives on both. Possibly Bessler made use of a side to side contraption (the crab) that existed in both water (hydralics) and air, which was responsible for moving the weights.

I don't believe in a personal god, I do believe in the absolute however. For those of you who do believe in a personal god, and I believe Bessler probably did, doesn't it make sense to try and follow Gods blueprint for machinery ei. The Living System, veins, channels, pressure and moving liquids through them?
