: Yes,excellent site John. A good bit on Bessler to.

You're right on the good bit on Bessler. Such as:

1) First, the tapered bearing pins were 1 inch in diameter, next read they are 3/4 inch in diameter. Bessler states that they are the former, but the author must've decided they were too thick by 1/4 inch.

2) Now all kinds of people besides Karl are describing "compartments" with multiple weights. Sounds like a Frank Edwards "guess your best" deal to me.

3) The old "milkmaid" story again. If she really turned a crank from another room to drive the wheel, don't you think the thorough exam of the room by all those scientific community people would have revealed an
access in the wall for the crankshaft to go through? Or did Bessler also invent the "portable hole" like in the cartoons, or better yet maybe he covered the hole with a picture knowing they would never look behind it??

Too many inconsistancies in the paper.
