You are correct, that the drawings are very similar but slightly different. That is why Mike calls them the "twin" drawings. Bessler did draw them them both. Some people think that the subtle discrepancies might be hints.
I have just updated the "Drawings" section of my site so that you can see them both side-by-side and make up your own mind.

: I am curious as to why the Merseburg drawing on your website is slightly different than the one on Cybertown Mikes http://www.cybertown.com/%Emike/images/b1.jpg? Your's shows the locks having the same numbers, Mike reverses them. You cut off the upper left hand corner where what appears to be a J is. The shadows go in opposite directions. Not nitpicking, just curious.
