My advice to EVERYBODY is to just treat this as a hobby. Work on it now and then, and don't let it consume your life. If you go at it obsessively you are only going to hit a wall of frustration (splat!) If something doesn't work, step back from it and go do something else (that doesn't have anything to do with PM). Your mind will still be 'working' on it, and you'll be surprised at the new ideas that come up when you least expect it.
