Closer examination of the photos on your webpage indicate that the axle of your wheel is a length of wooden rod. The stand upon which the axle turns (journals) also appears wooden. Is this correct?
There does not seem to be much apparent wearing of the wooden axle as might be expected from such a bearing/bush arrangement supporting a reasonable weight (6 x 4 oz. lead balls + springs and housing, etc). Does this indicate the wheel has not seen much use and has turned only a few rotations?
I think it would be helpful for everyone if you could provide a clear description of how you have tested this prototype to date. Thanks.
