Yes I can Fletcher. It clearly states in the official reports that the bi-directional wheels always needed a slight push to start them, irrespective of the direction, each and every time the wheels were stopped and started again. I see where your thinking is leading and I too considered that. That is why I can say with such certainty that they always needed a push to start them, because I have already looked into the question. I wondered if there was any truth in Wagner's suggestion that the axle was somehow split so that it could be turned in either direction by whatever means. But Bessler treated that suggestion with his usual subtlety!

: John, are you able to clarify for me, from eye-witness accounts or in your opinion, whether for the bi-directional wheels a "push" was required to start the wheel accelerating each & every time the wheel was stopped & started again? Or was it that once in a particular direction of rotation it could be stopped & started of its own volition as did the uni-directional wheels unless a reversal in rotational direction was required in which case a "starting push" was required ? Cheers !
