: Bessler mentions he buried some of his papers (vital ones I assume).
: Any history of where, or if anyone has tried to find them?

No I have not been able to find any record of anyone searching for the papers, however I, myself, have been to both Kassel and Karlshafen in Germany and have studied the local maps and talked to local people and walked the area extensively and have come to the conclusion that the garden which would have been behind Bessler's house when he was alive is now covered by a car park! The tarmac that covers it now was probably dug over and covered and built on several times in the last two hundred and fifty-eight years and I doubt that there would be sufficient reason to dig it up again even if his wheel is reconstructed and his life's work redeemed.

We don't of course know where he buried the papers nor whether he dug them up again after the furore of his arrest had died down.
