Put a large value NONPOLARIZED capacitor (say 5 uf, 370 VAC should be big enough) across the battery terminals. If your machine is generating high frequencies this will shunt them around the battery and it should eliminate that "slowing down" you're getting. Look out though, the fans might just rev off their shafts!
