Any good quality hardware store will stock ball bearings up to about an inch in diameter. Here in Boulder CO, I use a store called McGuckin Hardware. You may not find them at the big national chains like Home Depot, but your smaller, specialty type hardware stores will have them. If not, you can try a machine shop. If all else fails, you can buy them on the Internet. Try:

: Right, but where do I find a steel ball? I think I can find the refrigerator magnets, but who carries steel balls? Are there specific steels that work best? Also, can magnets be linked end to end, or just front to back? Thanks.
