Lindsay Publications features a lot of republished old books of good quality, and inexpensive. If I remember correctly from the catalog I have here, they have a book on making wooden gears for wooden clocks, also for making wood patterns for casting metal (same thing basically). I think they're at www.lindsaybooks.com, but if I'm wrong just search for "Lindsay Publications" and search should cough them up. They have an online catalog, plus their catalog is sent free to your home if you wish it. Fascinating stuff there!
