like my earlier posting http://www.besslerwheel.com/wwwboard/messages/450.html maybe
Tho I now favour a solution with a cylyndrical weight with thro' hole(he hid the ends),sliding down a wood dowel rod(scratching noise?)compressing (or stretching?) a spring, then getting locked with a pawl at say 4 o'clock, rotation to say 9 o'clock were it is released and 'kicks in' toward the centre. A pawl mechanism (requireing no input energy) that latches and unlatches at 4 and 9 o'clock is fairly simple, I allready have that bit.
So go build! , second thoughts..better stick with your own ideas....lol

: Has anyone here noted in one of thew description by Bessler he states the center of his machine, that which can be called the principle piece of his machine, is something resembling a grindstone.
: In otherwords a flywheel.
: Now...playing devils advocate, suspend some heavy weights, have one of them gradually fall, transfering it's force to said grindstone. You could easily stop...and start the machine, each time a new weight is used.
