Hi Øystein,

Yes, I agree with John that the image you have is probably showing strange patterns within the shaded areas as a result of poor scanning and/or resolution compression.

Now wouldn't it be an absolute one-in-a-trillion fluke if random image compression artifacts actually showed up as Bessler's secret!!! We should be so lucky :)

: Hello again Øystein,

: I've checked the drawing at the www.mamut.com/cfconverter and it's a scan I think from the Gould's book. To get it into a small enough jpeg some of the resolution has gone producing those odd lines and shapes in the drawing on the mamut web site. I can scan my copy of Gould's drawing if anyone wants a copy - the original is very clean. For best resolution it will be a large file though. I can send it to Scott if anyone's interested, but it will be basically the same as the one on www.orffyre.com.

: I understand your friend's agreeing that they can see the same shapes as you can, but I'm sure that they are a result of the scanning and reducing process.

: : Hello....

: : I have a copy of the drawing at :
: : www.mamut.com/cfconverter
: : under Besslerwheel calculations
: : Right-click and save that image.

: : On the left side at 8 o`clock you can clearly see a weight.
: : And it is hanging from a lever/pendulum system.
: : The color of the drum is also lighter around that erea.
: : This picture is NOT manipulated.

: : I can`t be that "special", that it is only me that sees it.
: : All my friends that have looked at it at home, can see it :-)

: : And I know some other guys on the Internet have seen it too !

: : Somebody said it is just a print-of of another drawing.
: : But looking closer into it, it can`t be that.
: : Somebody must have drawn it on purpose.

: : That is my opinion
: : (If you decrease the light on the monitor, you will see it better, and increasing contrast, even better)
: : Looking forward to comments.

: : : Hi,

: : : You have me puzzled Øystein. I can't see any differneces between Gould's version and that of JB's. Look at the second drawing on www.orrfyre.com - its an exact reproduction even down to the writing on the bottom. This particular drawing comes from an earlier publication by JB in 1715, but it does not differ from the later ones in any way other than being slightly better drawn. I cannot see anything within the wheel and neither can I see any differences in the radius. Which drawing are you looking at?

: : :
: : : : Hello, This question is first of all directed to John C,
: : : : but I ask everybody !

: : : : Do you know why Rupert Goulds drawing / copy of the Besslerwheel, is different from the other similar Mersburg drawing/s on this site...?

: : : : The radius of the wheel varies more and there are weight/s and levers etc. inside of it that clearly can be seen, especially with graphic enhancement.
: : : : This do not reveal in any of other drawing/copies I have seen.
: : : : Where did Rupert get his picture from ?
: : : : And why is it not more pictures from the same original as Rupert used, or is that picture tampered with (by Rupert)
: : : : to make the story more "exciting"....?
