I just looked there, and this is what you wrote:

"That's ok. Would you like the drwg to fool with? You need 1 1/2 lb weights, 6 oz. weights, and springs with matching constants. 15" dia disk. Stop repositioning and spring extensions indicated on one mech only, as they are mirror-mechs. Timing critical, bottom weight pulled up at 530-600 pm position, top weight swings away from stop at 1230-100 pm position.
Personally didn't think it all that great, so I didn't post. Same self-destructive results obtained by another, revamped to present "

IF that is the answer you are refering to, then I am still at a loss to find an answer to my ogirinal questions.

The answer above tells me something of relative movements within the wheel, the mass of the elements and the importance of springs and timing generally.

But my questions were more specific and related to _performance_, particularly the claim that it was "OU", let me rephrase them:

1) When you started this thing moving, what was the _longest_ period it rotated for before coming to rest? How many times did you have it rotating before it 'destroyed itself'?

2) Did it need a small or large amount of energy to start - or was it _repeatedly_ "self-starting"?

3) Did you ever try using it to power something else or in some other way extract energy from the rotation? If so, did it continue to run or did it stop?

[The question about the noise it made was an indirect way of seeing if it was in 'converting' rotary KE into sound - i.e. was 'powering something else while it ran' - if only the surrunding air)

Thanks!

Nick
