Hi Mr Tim,

So...how do you feel about "getting something for nothing" on the internet? Surely you must feel terrible aquiring information and entertainment for free. Perhaps you offer some useful and equally valuable information or entertainment in return, as a kind of barter system?

I just don't see how you can be so cynical when there is proof all around you that not everyone demands payment for their time and/or effort. Are they fools?

The glass is half full Mr Tim.

Regards, ovyyus

: : It may be true that Bessler would not have gotten any money for his invention if he had given it away. However, the point is that he did not get anything for it anyway by keeping it secret. What Bessler whould have gotten if he had given his secret away would be recognition as the discoverer of Perpetual Motion, and a MUCH better world for mim and his children to live in. I would have to say that while monetary compensation is a good thing, it is not nearly as good a thing as making the world a better place for yourself and your loved ones.

: Unfortunately, most people want "something for nothing". I fail to see how giving away the secret would helped him at all. Then, as now, it takes money to feed and shelter you (and your family). Without being compensated, would he have gotten so much as that (meaning "food and shelter") by "making the world a better place"? I...don't...think...soooo.....
: And this brings up another point. If somebody rediscovers the way the wheel worked, and they don't "give the secret away", what makes you believe that you DESERVE to know how it worked? Just because it will "make the world a better place"? Isn't that another form of wanting "something for nothing"?
: I realise that I am probably taking an unpopular stance. Get used to it.
: The Maddening,
: MrTim
: p.s. "Bessler may have been a genius, but he certainly wasn't someone to admire or _EMULATE_."
: (Then why are we all trying to duplicate his wheel?!?!?!)
