The only information I have on the wheel which was found after Bessler died is that it is recorded in a list of his effects. It only says something like..a number of parts of a disassembled wheel. Bessler's widow, he remarried some time after his wife's death, gave all of his effects such as books, a telescope and various other bits and pieces to the State. What they did with it is not recorded although all the papers seem to have been lodged in various museums.

The wheel that was described as not being able to be moved was written about in a letter to professor 'sGravesande by a professional sceptic called jean-piere de Crousaz. He said that the wheel was not portable and was much smaller than the others and could only turn one way. It is possible that this smaller wheel was identical to the one found after his death. Perhaps he retained the smaller one for demonstrations at home.

I see where you are going with this Mike and I too wondered if there were any bits stored anywhere or if there might be further descriptions of the various parts, but I have so far found nothing in that area.

: Hi again John,

: The one wheel that was found...do you have any information on who found it and was there any description of the parts? Also I've read where Bessler was quoted as stating there is a small wheel at (his) house, but it cannot be removed. Sounds like it was fixed in place. Any idea about this? The quote is from the Bessler section of Perpetual Motion, History of an Obsession.

: Mike
