Hi

I've been a Bessler fan for some time now, and I have been visiting besslerwheel.com almost since it started. I'd just like to say what an excellent site it is and thank Scott for all his hard work in running it. I've not posted a message before as I've not had many ideas that I thought were worth mentioning. I wish this post were to tell you that one of my wheels actually worked, but alas no! However, I had an idea whilst examining the MT pictures on Bill's website (another great site), and I don't think anyone has mentioned it before, so I thought it was worth a post. I took the Apologia drawing (see this post if you're not sure what the drawing is: click here) and using Photoshop I took just the black areas and then pasted the image over various MT drawings. By doing this on certain drawings, only parts of mechanisms are revealed. On other drawings certain letters are show in the gaps. I haven't tried this on all the drawings as I don't have a copy of MT. I've tried it on a few of Bill's MT drawings, but haven't come up with anything yet, however it is extremely easy to position the image over the drawings due to the white rings that line up with the wheel rims and axles. Looking at the axles in the MT drawings you can see that some of them fit the Apologia drawing exactly while others don't. So, is the Apologia drawing a decoder wheel for MT? I think so, but perhaps if we all give it some thought and experimentation we can find out one way or the other. Remember the drawing is accompanied by the text: "...and do you still not understand?". I've only tried placing the drawing over the MT images in the orientation it is shown in, but maybe it needs to be rotated. Bill, are the letters on your MT drawings exactly the same size and in the same position in the original? So, what does everyone think - is there something to this, or have I just gone mad thinking about the Bessler mystery for so long? It certainly seems to me to be the sort of thing Bessler might have done.

All the best and happy clue hunting!

Stewart

P.S. I can provide example images for Scott to put on the site if Bill gives his permission to use a few of his MT drawings in this way.
