Why indeed! I contend that the more things change, the more they stay the same. It is clear, at least to me, that this tortured soul that was Johann Elias Bessler was concerened with much the same things that you or I might be concerned with regarding such a heavy burden......surely the world's landscape would be much different today had his device been allowed to spread unhindered. Perhaps we can learn from old Johann's example.....he was a cagey one. But he appeared to be not without compassion as well. Was the world "ready" in those days to receive such a "blessing"? Does GOD play dice with the universe? In Johann's day the gaping wound of the dark ages still resonated throughout the human psyche in the absence of the techno-slumber that entombs much of the world today.....perhaps Johann was truly disgusted by the larger truth that loomed before him, and startled as well at his capacity for underestimation of the ugliness of man! Hypothetically, IF I were a modern Bessler, I might have released a similar device to the working model but not quite operable with open invitation to those interested to build their own and waited to see the responses. And, IF there were those that chose to do so and shared their results with me with the open invitation to inspect their faithful replication attempts and open a dialogue to gauge their character and talents for the prospect of forming a semi-coherent network of loyal and altruistic souls to "greenpeace" a positive solution to one of the primary banes of modern existence......
Well, at any rate, I maintain that there must be various modern day Bessler's out there........perhaps waiting to see the first rays of light shed themselves upon the new day that begs to dawn.
It is just too irrational to speculate that old Johann destroyed proof of the working principle of his wheel out of fear for his own life at the hands of those that may not want such a contrivance muddling their present and future designs for the world. Right? I mean, comeon, that was the early 1800s. 2003 sure. but way back then? That would mean...................nah, just TOO irrational to be believed.
