Very possible. As long as the weight got lifted off the bottom, the wheel became topheavy and unstable. The "Tarzan" weight at the top pitched it into a sideheavy direction.
As Brett suggested long ago, make a "four", but I got off on another tangent trying to do JB's smooth operation. The drawing you have sat idle on a floppy for a few months.
Honest truth, got up 5 am,, no coffee, started building this. Did you ever do something half asleep, like your hands are working and you are just an observer? Put it together,
woke up the household with its noise, and drew it up after coffee and .jpg'ed it to Brett. Both REAL excited until it began to tear itself up, both models. Just kept our traps shut
and geared up for redesign.
You are correct, it utilized the centrifugal force to help reset itself.
You'll are welcome to play with it, it's a pain in the butt to time, but it works, and can hurt you if care is not taken!
Three pounds of lead turning in a blur, around a 15" perimeter.....
