And Will... if you knew anything about Mystery Schools you would know that they in fact didn't Worship (at least the way you think of it) but that their gods were actually principles embodied in a form of personification. They were just what the term states, schools. Even the new testiment states when "Jesus" is asked why he speaks in parables..., so the wise will know, and the commoner just hear a nice story (paraphrased but that's esentially what it states)

Oh my goodness..."god" actually saying we can do more than him? Well gee, that idea might just take off if it were not for the counter measure that WE killed him, and golly just aren't good enough because only he is the only begotten son.
