Hi Michael,

We form our own personal (and sometimes wildly varied) opinions from the same basic source information. To differentiate between what is source information, in this case the available historical records, and what is derivative opinion is obviously important. The source is your friend.

I don't think Bessler was as mad as he was made out to be. He was an obviously multi-talanted and energetic individual battling a highly political landscape and could not remain unresponsive to slander and libel, and survive.

I believe Bessler fully expected to sell his wheel and was using every means at his disposal to achieve this objective while protecting his back. Without a patent system, his only protection was his own wits and cunning and I agree with John that Bessler used accepted methods to protect his intellectual property rights.

IMO, he didn't need his papers to prove his invention - he could build the ultimate proof for that - just as a means of establishing priority. If his secret was stolen, encoded information already published could at least demonstrate his priority.

This being so then the most important secret in Bessler's life, even greater than the wheel mechanism itself, would be the key to his encoded proof of priority.

: Hi.

: If the general thought is Bessler included pendulums as speed modifiers only, then wouldn't it be wise to mention this in the areas mentioned on the respective boards? I am saying this because too many people look at the information posted up and come away with the wrong idea.
: Also a question to all. Has anyone thought of doing a measurement on Bessler himself? If Bessler was as paranoid as stated (enough to drive him half mad to make him very unsociable) then doesn't it only stand to reason he would take EVERY percaution NOT to reveil anything? Doesn't it also, then, also stand to reason that everything he did produce (except for the papers he hid or buried) was meant to lead one away from what the real means of his machine were? This would include TM of course and all writtings (except of course eyewitness testimony.) For anyone questioning the idea that he may want something as proof if he didn't have a wheel up and running at a certain point, he did know where he buried his own papers.

: Best regards,

: Mike
