Hi Michael,
Yes, I agree it would be inconvenient to have two separate boards for members and non-members. I have already reconfigured the new board to just have one general discussion forum, where anyone can post, but only logged in users can upload files, conduct polls, and vote. Tonight I will apply a patch that allows guests to vote...

I agree your idea for a "garbage" section sounds interesting, but I'm afraid it might be a little more manual work than I had in mind... I like the fact that phpBB pretty much takes care of itself...

Maybe that is a good reason to have more than one forum? Maybe
-General Discussion
and
- Rants

Or something like that?

By the way, I just opened up a sneak peak of the new board to the group... Thanks again for your feedback.

: Actually Scott I think I like Bill's idea. I liked the design of your new board you sent me but realized it might be too much trouble and time to go switching back and forth between forums. At least for me.
: I like the members idea, but again if you use different platforms like I sometimes do (library-coffe shop etc.) it might be a little difficult, unless we have a logon. Even Bill's fruitcake section might be a good idea of sorts. I know James Randi has a link to a flame board (or maybe it's his), and spammers could always be directed there to get out hostilities.(Hopefully this would happen only rarely) Could tell you something about the type of people that are members by the quality of their messages as well. But again that's getting away from the true intent of your board, and you may not want to do that. Or...as moderator you could keep everything open as is, and any irreverent spam material could be sent by you to a "garbage" section of your site where everyone can see. That would ...be interesting to see.

: Mike
